Holiday Gift Ideas 2012!

Tis the Season to start shopping for those holiday gifts, and you can always find a lot of great ideas at Here are a few items I’m putting on my gift list:

UGG boots. These never fail to please in my family, and UGG has some great new models and colors this season. Maybe I can drop enough hints that someone will get ME a pair of the UGG Bailey Button minis? I need some new sheepskin boots and love the way these little boots feel. They are the perfect way for me to keep my feet warm and look fantastic with jeans. They are available in a variety of colors; can I put this on MY holiday list?

Slippers. Everyone loves slippers during the cold weather, and I really love the new slippers that have just arrived from Acorn. I bet that my mother would love the Crosslander Moc, which has a wool upper, Sherpa fleece lining, and a rubber outsole so that she can go out and get the newspaper and still have her feet stay warm and dry. I love to see slippers that actually have arch support, and this one will make her feel great!

Gilden Tree products. When your feet need a little pampering, Gilden tree lotions and creams can make them feel like they’re totally spoiled! I particularly like the Healing Foot Cream; it’s an aloe-based cream with shea butter. I love how it soaks into your skin and doesn’t feel greasy. This is a great product for those who love to pamper their feet, and those who OUGHT to pamper their feet!

Socks. Now don’t assume that a sock gift is the equivalent of giving a lump of coal in the stocking; there are a wide variety of socks available for a variety of purposes! I like to stock up on athletic socks, since they take a beating and are critical for when you’re active and require socks with good breathability and comfort. Thorlo makes some excellent socks for this purpose. I also love the fun, patterned socks from K.Bell and Hot Sox. These socks can help reflect your mood or interests! And you can never have too many dress socks, like those from Monarch. I love the softness and variety of colors of those socks.

Wallets. I love giving a wallet as a gift because a lot of people never quite remember to replace their wallets before they wear out! Hobo International makes some gorgeous leather wallets. I particularly like the Iris, which contains 12 credit card slots, an ID window, and two bill pockets. It’s a classic, elegant style that anyone is sure to love.

For the person who is going on vacation to a warm climate, don’t forget a good pair of flip flops. My favorite is the Orthaheel Tide. Available in a bunch of beautiful colors, this may well be the most comfortable flip flop anyone could possibly own. I lived in my pair this past summer and would LOVE to go to a warm place so that I could wear them soon. Your friends and family will love that you’ve thought about their foot comfort for their travels!

This is only a small assortment of what’s available for the holidays from Footwear etc. Make up that shopping list and place an order soon!

Boiled Wool and Wool Felt Slippers by Haflinger!

If you’re a stickler for natural materials in your shoes, you’ll love the slippers by Haflinger. They only work with natural materials like boiled wool, wool felt, and cork – and it makes a difference in how the shoes feel.

Ever feel a cork footbed? It molds to your feet! That’s why Haflinger products are so incredibly comfortable. They’re not only soft and cozy from the wool, you get an anatomical footbed from the cork. With these natural materials, you can even wash the shoes to keep them looking their best for years to come!

Depending on the model you get, you could get either a double felt outsole, which adds cushioning and traction on surfaces, or a rubber traction sole for a more reliable grip on surfaces.

One adorable model is the Women’s Doggy. It has a really cute motif of a dog on the upper, and the slipper keeps your feet warm and cozy while massaging your feet!

Men also have a wonderful model in the Classic Grizzly. The warm wool-covered footbed feels great and massages your foot with each step you take. This model has a lightweight rubber traction sole, so you can walk outside and not worry about the shoe deteriorating in any way. This slipper will hold up beautifully over time, you’ll love the durability and comfort.

Keep your feet warm and cozy this winter with slippers by Haflinger. They’re just what your feet need to be comfortable all winter long.

Cozy Slippers for the Cold Weather!

I absolutely adore wearing cozy clothing as the weather cools down. Sweats, fleece, flannel – if it’s soft and fuzzy, I love to wear it. I’m especially excited to see the great new styles in slippers from Acorn! Cozy comfort is definitely part of this equation!

Acorn slippers are made from Italian wool-blend knit, soft Sherpa fleece, Thermolite synthetic down, and water-repellent suede. But even better, they actually support your feet, with a removable EVA insole with an anatomic arch support. How fantastic is that? You get warmth AND support in a slipper. What’s not to love?

My favorite is the Acorn Women’s Crosslander Moc. It’s available in Café Wool (shades of brown) and is an easy-to-wear slip on that keeps your entire foot comfortable. It’s the perfect slipper that can go from indoors to outside – for those times when you want to go grab the newspaper. The rubber outsole has terrific traction and should hold up well over time.

An option for men is the Acorn Men’s Fave Gore. The wool-blend tweed upper is in a beautiful grey color, and the microfleece lining wicks moisture so that your feet stay warm and dry. This is a great slipper to wear indoors as well as outdoors since it contains a suede sidewall as well as non-slip weatherproof sole.

Keep your feet warm and cozy as the weather cools down! Acorn slippers are perfect for wearing around the house or even walking outside to get the paper. You’ll love how they make your feet feel!

Direct from New Zealand: Ziera Shoes!

You know good things have to happen when two podiatrists get together to make shoes…back in the ‘30s, a couple of podiatrists in New Zealand got together to create shoes that would work better for their patients, and this company was born. Now under the name, Ziera, this brand has evolved to make beautiful, comfortable shoes with all-day comfort as the goal.

I’m always a sucker for high quality, everyday shoes, and Ziera shoes fit the bill. I could even wear various models from work to a night out. There are professional styles as well as casual styles, and I love the various colors and luxurious leathers used.  Here are a few that intrigue me:

Ziera Women’s Zimmer: The perfect dress shoe. Suitable for work or dressy occasions, this beautiful Mary Jane style shoe boasts a 2 ¼” heel, yet is remarkably comfortable. I love the decorative stitching at the toe, and the metal disk on the strap. There is great shock absorption due to the air bubbles in the polyurethane outsole. This is definitely a shoe you could wear all day and beyond.

The Ziera Women’s Carr: a beautiful everyday shoe that looks great with dressy or casual slacks. It’s a Mary Jane style that’s a slip-on! Available in Old Gold Astrale Leather or Black Leather, you’ll love the versatility of this shoe. Definitely note the padded heel collar – it helps keep your foot from rubbing behind your ankle. I also really like the decorative cutout down the throat of the shoe.

For a great casual look, check out the Ziera Women’s Allsorts: Made from premium leather with stitching details, this lace-up shoe can accommodate different widths! You can even remove the footbed if you need to use custom orthotics! The outstanding cushioning of this shoe makes it perfect to wear all day. I like the rugged details of this shoe.

Boots, and Buckles, and Zippers…Oh My!

I love seeing the newest embellishments on boots for this season. Buckles and Zippers are not strictly for utilitarian purposes anymore, they are actually THE fashion statement in a lot of styles! Sometimes you just need a little hardware in your life to spiff up your wardrobe. Here are a few styles that really caught my attention:

OluKai Women’s Elima. This edgy, mid-calf boot is casual and contemporary for the fashion-conscious. It’s also amazingly comfortable and supportive due to its anatomical footbed. I like the fact that you can really get a custom fit with this boot with its five straps as well as the side zipper.  You don’t have to be afraid of the rain given its all-weather rubber outsole. This is a fantastic all-around boot that you could wear with jeans, casual dresses, or other trendy attire.

A great ankle boot is the Clarks Women’s Chris Sydney. I love the “scrunchy” leather and the buckle accent strap. This boot is easy to wear given its side zipper and low heel.  This is a beautiful style that I would wear with jeans or even dressy slacks. The leather is luxurious, and the buckle accent adds a modern flair to the boot. The 1 ½” heel is comfortable whether you’re used to wearing heels or flats. What’s not to love?

Men have a new boot option in the Clarks Chilton. It’s a biker boot, perfect to wear with your casual attire but is adjustable and easy-to-wear with its side zip entry and buckle strap. It’s a rugged style yet versatile enough to wear with khakis or twills. You’ll appreciate the traction and durability of the rubber outsole this winter.

This is just a sampling of the many types of footwear with buckles and zippers available this season. Take a look and see what will work for you! From edgy to rugged, these choices for your wardrobe are fantastic!
