Clogs that are Lightweight and Slip Resistant? Yes!

I’m a big fan of clogs. They’re always comfortable and I’ve had great luck with them helping my feet and back feel better. I love the support, and the different styles. Now there’s a new kid on the block with not only the great style and comfort I’m used to, but outstanding slip resistance: footwear by Klogs!

Actually, Klogs Footwear makes more than just clogs. They also make Mary Janes, and clogs with open or closed backs. There are even unisex models to choose from!

What sets this brand apart is the superb slip resistance of the sole. Klogs actually exceed the standard set by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) under dry, wet, and oily surface conditions. Isn’t it great to have peace of mind while you work that your shoes can help you avoid slips and falls?

All Klogs have cushioned, removable footbeds with deep heel cups that provide great shock absorption and support. The outsoles are non-marking, and the shoes are washable and durable. Available in either polyurethane or leather, they provide outstanding softness and comfort. You can even pop out the footbed to use your own orthotics or inserts. The polyurethane Klogs are even made in the USA!

I love the variety of styles available for men and women.  For an open back style, the Unisex Dusty is a great choice. This polyurethane model wipes clean with soap and water, and is a great all-around clog for extended wear. It’s available in a variety of colors, including white, chestnut, forest, and even “splatter.”

Fans of closed back shoes will love the unisex Naples. Comfort is assured with side elastic gores and a padded collar around the ankle. It’s available in a variety of colors and patterns, like lavender print leather, or taupe suede tapestry. There’s something for everyone in this model!

Note on sizing: for unisex sizing, women should order their normal sizes. If a woman is a half size, go one half size UP. Men should order a full size up and WIDE. If a man is a half size, order up 1.5 sizes up and WIDE.

Support for those Sheepskin Boots!

During these cold wintery months, loads of people love to get sheepskin boots for the holidays. I don’t blame them, I love the warmth and coziness of sheepskin. My feet, however, balk when there’s no arch support in my shoes. That’s why I love the insoles and orthotics from Superfeet and Lynco.  If you’ve got good quality sheepskin boots, you can swap out the insoles they came with and insert one of these products.

SoftWalk Shoes: The Perfect Shoes for Any Width Feet!

One width does NOT fit all. That is a message we’ve been hearing from customers repeatedly. Can you imagine how frustrating it is to find shoes that fit if you’re not a standad Women’s B width? Many manufacturers don’t bother making anything other than medium width, preferring to appeal to the majority rather than the exceptions. Footwear etc. is very happy to announce the arrival of shoes from SoftWalk – which come in a large variety of widths!

SoftWalk shoes come in widths ranging from Slim (AAA) to XX-Wide (EE). These widths should cover just about everyone! Don’t assume that because there are many widths, these look like stereotypical orthopedic shoes. They don’t!

The other great feature of these shoes is the patented SoftWalk “Eggcrate” footbed. Have you ever slept on an egg crate pad on your bed? These shoes emulate that feeling…for your feet!  I loved how the cushy footbed felt as I walked in them. It feels like you’re walking on pillows – and you are! SoftWalk shoes are great for pampering your feet. Apparently these are very popular among flight attendants, who spend many hours on their feet each day. You could experience that level of comfort too!

There are several models in particular that caught my eye, including:

The Adora – an elegant slip-on shoe that can go with dressy and casual attire alike. I noticed that my physician has a pair of these, and she loves them! Available in Navy and in Black, the Adora is the perfect all-around shoe for any occasion.

The Murietta – a lovely clog that is available in a variety of colors. I really like the Cognac Croc Leather – that would work with most of my wardrobe. The padded collar provides additional comfort on the top of your foot, and the rich croc leather upper is stylish and fashion forward. The folks at SoftWalk are also smart enough to have color coordinated footbed linings, so that the upper and footbed look cohesive.

Like booties? Check out the Trieste. It’s available in black leather or brown suede, and has a convenient side zipper to help you get it on and off. I’m also a sucker for bows, and the mini tassel bow adds that dash of femininity I love to see.

Dressy shoes don’t need to be uncomfortable; SoftWalk has filled that bill with the Dani. Available in Wheat or Black Distressed Leather, this shoe is a beautiful leather oxford with a 2 ¼” heel. This is a great shoe to wear to work or out to dinner! The lug sole is slip resistant, and this shoe even has a removable footbed should you need to insert an orthotic or insole. I love the versatility of this shoe!

Even if you don’t have an unusual-width foot, you can still enjoy the cushy comfort of SoftWalk shoes. And if you do need a width other than “B,” rejoice! You’ve finally got a variety of options for all sorts of occasions.

Custom Shoes Without the Custom Price!

Little did I know that you can actually have customized shoes at affordable prices. How is it possible? Aetrex found a way!

Aetrex has come up with a fascinating new technology called Mozaic Customization. It allows you to modify all Aetrex footwear so that you can relieve any pressure points on your feet and provide for an equal distribution of pressure as you walk.

How does it work? First, you identify the pressure points on your feet. (You can do this by noticing particular areas of pressure as you stand. Another way is if you have access to a store that has a machine that can do this for you, the machine can map out those areas.)  Next, find those areas on the insole that correspond to your pressure points and remove the little squares there. Finally, put the modified insole back into your shoe. You’ll notice an immediate difference in how your weight distributes throughout your feet, and how the pressure areas are relieved!

The Ultimate in Luxurious Walking Shoes: Finn Comfort!

Birkenstock and Birki’s Shoes – They Mold to Your Feet!

Did you know that Birkenstockhas been making shoes since 1774? While there have been a few style changes, the overall design is much as it was back then. Birkenstock’s premise is that they use REAL products, like cork, jute and leather. These products allow your feet to breathe, and mold to your feet, thus providing a custom fit. And their patented footbed really sets this brand apart: there is a pronounced arch support, deep heel cup, and a roomy toe box. The footbed adapts to the shape of your feet! And the EVA sole is flexible and durable. Another great feature of Birkenstocksis that they come in narrow and regular widths. I’ve heard of many people who feel that Birkenstocks are the most supportive shoes they’ve ever owned! You can also have these shoes rebuilt once they show signs of wear!

Birkenstock’s flagship shoe is the Arizonasandal. The two buckle straps allow you to adjust the width of the shoe, and since it’s a slide the shoe is easy to get on and off. Available in smooth leathers in Hunter Brown, Cortina Brown, Antique Peat and Hunter Black, and in suedes in mocha, taupe, cocoa and black, these shoes are basic, classic, and extremely comfortable.

Clogs are also part of Birkenstock’s collection. The Boston has that great footbed that molds to your foot, but with an enclosed toe box. Yet even though it’s a clog, you can still adjust the fit with the buckle. I’ve seen people wear these shoes with dressier clothes, particularly the models that have smooth leather uppers. I like the versatility that this style brings to the collection. Available in smooth brown leather or in a variety of suede colors, there’s a clog here for everyone.

Birki’sare considered part of the Birkenstock brand, but are designed for casual family use. The cork footbed is moldable to your feet, and is replaceable when it wears out. The biggest difference in the Birki clogs is that the uppers are made from polyurethane, which makes them not only very durable but also water resistant. These are great clogs to wear out in the garden or in the kitchen!

One popular model is the Birki’s Profi. It has flexible polyurethane uppers, the moldable/washable footbed, and is lightweight and shock absorbent. It’s Not Too Late for UGG Boots – Especially the Classic Mini!

I’ve been fascinated by the wide variety of boots offered by UGG Australia this year. It seems like there’s something for everyone. There are boots for snow, there are boots that are in a wide variety of colors, there are boots in different heights. The Bailey Button Triplet has been extremely popular this winter – and they look great with your pant legs tucked in. For those of us who aren’t wild about doing that, there’s the perfect boot for us: the Classic Mini Kimono.

With a 5” shaft, the Classic Mini Kimono is really an “ankle boot”. It fits just over your foot and your ankle, and provides all the cozy comfort of all of UGG’s styles. The soft foam insole is covered with sheepskin for a very cushy and warm feeling and wicks away moisture to keep your feet warm and dry. The EVA outsole helps provide traction in slick weather. But that’s not all; the top of the boot is etched with a pretty Kimono Flower design! I’m delighted that I can wear this boot with any of my slacks and have them look great. No worries about having to tuck anything in; these boots will work very well under anything but slacks that are very tight around the ankle. (Then you could tuck THOSE in!)

Warm and Cozy Slides from UGG Australia – the Gael and the Isabella!

Sometimes you just want to slide into a cozy shoe and just dash out the door. Sometimes you want a shoe that’s a little dressier than a typical sheepskin boot. Sometimes you just want a versatile sheepskin shoe that you can wear with a variety of outfits. Naturally, UGG Australia has a couple of options to choose from for exactly these purposes. Great sheepskin style is not just for boots; take a look at UGG’s Gael and Isabella.

The Gael is a wonderful slide that works with so many different types of outfits. It looks great with jeans, with skirts, with dressier pants outfits, etc. Being a slide, it’s easy to wear and the fact that it has UGG’s typical high-quality sheepskin lining only makes it more cozy and attractive. Arch Support for your Favorite Sheepskin Boots from Superfeet!
