Unfortunately a great pair of shoes won’t fix ALL your health issues, but here are some delicious trending recipes to help keep you healthy in addition to the fabulous shoes you’ll be wearing while you enjoy these!

Smoothie bowls have been trending lately – a great way to combine your veggies, fruit, seeds and other healthy and delicious foods. And they are stunningly beautiful! Here are some that I thought were particularly interesting and mouth-watering.

One of the wonderful things about smoothie bowls is that they are fully customizable, so leave out what you don’t like or add what you love! That’s the beauty of smoothie bowls!

This superfood smoothie bowl is loaded with all the good things. The beautiful mint green color in this smoothie bowl comes from spirulina (18 amino acids!) and is great for immune support, healthy brain function, healthy heart function and weight management. It also gives you a lot of energy and helps curb cravings. The smoothie is a blend of frozen bananas, frozen pineapple and your choice of plant milk (like almond milk).

Recipe: Serves 1

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any dairy-free milk)
  • 1/2 tsp spirulina

TOPPINGS

  • fresh fruit
  • granola
  • coconut shreds or chips
  • chia seeds
  • gogi berries
  • hemp hearts

INSTRUCTIONS

Remove frozen bananas from freezer and let sit on the counter for 5-10 minutes to defrost a bit. Add all ingredients (except the toppings) to a high speed blender and slowly blend or pulse until thick and creamy. Do not add more liquid unless you want it to be thinner and soupy. Transfer to a bowl and add your favorite toppings!

This version is a little more simple and again, fully customizable. It’s just important to keep the solid to liquid ratio the same to ensure the thickness is appropriate for a smoothie bowl.

Recipe: Serves 1

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 Tablespoon Almond Butter
  • 2/3 cup almond milk (or any dairy-free milk)
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

SUGGESTED TOPPINGS

  • fresh raspberries
  • chia seeds
  • fresh blueberries
  • shredded coconut
  • banana
  • mint leaves
  • dark chocolate
  • mixed nuts and seeds

INSTRUCTIONS

Place all ingredients (except the toppings) in blender and blend or pulse on high for about 30 seconds or until fully blended and smooth. Transfer to a bowl and add your favorite toppings!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl

Chocolate + Peanut Butter = healthy?! Yup! If you do it right, you can make healthy delicious. This recipe uses dates as a alternative sweetener – if you’re not a fan of dates you can use your favorite sweetener options instead.

Recipe: Serves 2

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup rice milk (or almond)
  • 4 bananas (2 of them frozen)
  • 2 Tablespoons peanut butter
  • 8 Tablespoons carob powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 8 dates (or other sweetener of your choice)

SUGGESTED TOPPINGS

  • strawberries
  • bannan
  • shredded coconut
  • shaved chocolate
  • peanuts
  • seeds

INSTRUCTIONS

Place all ingredients (except the toppings) in blender and blend or pulse on high for about 30 seconds or until fully blended and smooth. Transfer to a bowl and add your favorite toppings!
