Try Berkemann Footwear for Handcrafted European Design!

It’s exciting to see the new styles show up here at Footwear etc., and another new brand that’s piqued my interest is Berkemann. With a variety of styles and materials, these shoes provide outstanding comfort and European craftsmanship in some great choices for the Spring! Here are a few of my favorites:

The Berkemann Women’s Triest is a gorgeous slide with a multi-colored braided leather upper. Many of the steps in the manufacturing process were done by hand, so the level of quality is superb. This shoe is flexible and shock-absorbing, and I love the bright colors of the braids. If you like happy-looking shoes, you’ll LOVE this one.

Clog fans will love the Standard Toeffler. The leather upper is perforated and available in a variety of colors. The leather shaft and wood soles are connected by hand with nails! The wooden sole is made from European poplar wood, which grows quickly and is renewable. The footbeds are washable and replaceable as well.

I am really intrigued by the Fabienne. It’s the first leather shoe I have ever heard of that is washable! With each pair of these, you also get a sample bottle of special liquid detergent and a washing net in which you can machine wash your shoes. (Note that you can NOT machine dry them.) This is a very versatile casual sandal that you can wear with shorts, slacks, etc.

This is only a small sampling of Berkemann designs; check out the available models at – you’ll love the handcrafted comfort!
